Reflections from Cal Day

By EishaJanuary 10, 2025

Cal Day was overwhelming in the best way.

I walked into panel discussions, sat in on lectures, wandered through labs, and talked to dozens of students. Each person I met had a different story, a different path, a different reason for choosing Berkeley.

One student told me about their research in climate science. Another showed me their photography portfolio. Someone else invited me to a pickup basketball game on Memorial Glade.

It hit me: this is what Berkeley is. Not just the academics or the prestige — it's the people. The diversity of thought, background, and passion.

And I realized: even with four years here, I might never cross paths with everyone. But maybe I don't have to. Maybe the goal isn't to meet everyone — it's to create spaces where meaningful connections can happen.

That's why I started Berkeley 2030. Not as a directory or a social network, but as a community. A place where we can share stories, spark conversations, and find our people.

Because Berkeley isn't just a school. It's a movement. And we're all part of it.
